On May 23, 2018, the final appraisal meeting for the first professional evaluation of automotive engineers in the fields of automotive anti-corrosion and aging was held in Shanghai. Twelve experts from experts in the fields of corrosion protection, aging and fasteners were invited to serve as judges, and Comrade Zhang Ning, Secretary General of the China Society of Automotive Engineers, attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Huang Ping, secretary general of the Automotive Anti-Corrosion Aging Branch of the China Automotive Engineering Society.

Secretary General Huang Ping pointed out that anti-corrosion and aging of automobiles are the basic disciplines for automotive R&D, and are necessary conditions for ensuring the quality of automobiles and enhancing their brand image. Carry out professional competence evaluation of automotive anti-corrosion and aging talents. It plays an important role in cultivating leading personnel in the automobile anti-corrosion and aging industry, leading the direction of talent training in the industry, and enhancing the industry influence of engineers.

Subsequently, Bao Ying, Director of the Institute’s Talent Work Department, interpreted the “Auto Engineer Competency Standards” (T/CSAE 66-2018) and explained them in detail in terms of evaluation work flow, evaluation quality control, evaluation rules, and precautions. In the end, Secretary-General Zhang Ning put forward requirements for the evaluation work. I hope that all experts can strictly control the situation, and rather neglect the abuses and ensure the quality of the review work.

A total of 25 senior engineer level application materials have been received for the professional competence evaluation of automotive engineers. After preliminary examination, a total of 23 applicants entered the final review session and participated in the interview defense. According to the division of minor specialization, this reply was divided into four groups: aging group, fastener group, anti-corrosion 1 group and anti-corrosion 2 group.

Based on the "Auto Engineer Competency Standards" (T/CSAE66-2018), the expert team examined the applicant from the five dimensions of engineering ethics, professional competence, communication skills, project management skills, and leadership. After reviewing the application materials and on-site defense , Group appraisal and final appraisal committee appraisal and other procedures, a total of 20 applicants passed this review.

The appraisal work was highly recognized by the review experts. The experts agreed that the evaluation indicators were set up comprehensively and reasonably, with certain professional applicability, and had a clear guiding role for the industry’s talents. Persistence in the evaluation of engineers' capabilities is of positive significance in promoting the promotion of talents in the industry and promoting the orderly flow of talents. In the same period, the evaluation experts also put forward sound suggestions for evaluation indicators.

The evaluation of professional competence of engineers is the first attempt of the Society to carry out engineer evaluation work in the subdivided field. It is the learned spirit of implementing the “Opinions on Deepening the Reform of the Professional Title System”, deepening the classification evaluation, small peer evaluation, and innovative talent evaluation mechanism. Important exploration is also an important means of learning to serve members.
